David Bowie’s legacy lives on with a new video for “No Plan,” which was dropped at midnight on what would have been the icon’s 70th birthday. Part of an eponymous new EP, “No Plan” features the Bowie we’ve come to know in his later years—plaintive and fascinating, even in his absence. The four-song collection came from the same sessions that made up Bowie’s final album, Blackstar.
The video is maybe not as elaborate as some easter eggs uncovered on Blackstar, but is littered with references to Bowie’s history–a TV shop called Newton Electrical on Foxgrove Road shows a rocket launch, for example–and spins the typical lyric video into a posthumous reflection of what comes after death.
To honor Bowie further, massive birthday celebrations are planned around the globe tonight. Bowie died on January 10, 2016.
